Kinzman will be coming up on his 2nd anniversary as a Boy Scout in two months. According to the records, he has racked up 48 hiking miles with the troop thus far. He'll also become a teenager next month! And tomorrow he and I will make his first true backpacking trip. It's a twenty-miler, beginning at the Pinnacle and traversing such mountainous sights as "Hensley's Settlement" and "Sand Cave". The bears are becoming a bit more numerous in this section of the Cumberlands, so I have a mild apprehension, but . . . I am told that the views from various eminences are spectacular.

I hope you both have a wonderful trip with no bears or blisters or chafing. If you get tired, just tell "them"* to come get you.
*them = those helicopter rescuers we see on t.v.
COOL!
