1. Collect the names of everyone who will be exchanging gifts. I propose that it be: David, Isabelle, Claire, John, Bayne, Lynda, Henry, Cindy, Lillian, Caroline, Hank, PaPa, Aunt Beka. If boyfriends/girlfriends are to attend the event, their names may be added . . . even at the last moment . . . usually by their consort.
2. Tell each person for whom they are buying. (This does not preclude under-the-tree presents within families at another time, like Christmas morning, by the way.)
3. We buy the one present and wrap it.
4. At an appointed time we gather. The youngest member opens his present first, followed by the next older, and so on unto PaPa. During the opening, everyone is sitting in a convenient place, oohing and ahhing over the thoughtfulness of each gift. (Your Mom: "Oh Caroline! This giant, macrame, hand-made Brazilian Rosary, is just what I always wanted!" Everyone else: "Ahhh".)

I like this idea! Though, I do wish there was a way where I wouldn't get a sibling or parent since I am presumably getting something for them anyway... I haven't been able to think of anything yet if Papa and Aunt Beka are included so I will have to keep doing some brainstorming.. let me know if you have any thoughts on this matter or if you think it's just easier to go with the possibility of getting a sib. Maybe 2 people end up with Papa and Beka?

Ok - I used random.org and now everything has been decided!!
No boy/girlfriends for the moment but if they are added we can group them with their counterpart. I'm going to see now if Lillian can make the list look pretty... brb.
Ok, is it still random enough though? Cause I'm getting/making immediate family gifts, I'm pretty sure.
